Chautauqua County Music Teachers Association

Welcome to
Chautauqua County!

Welcome to the website of the Chautauqua County Music Teachers Association! Here you will find information regarding our organization and its numerous activities.

CCMTA is a county branch of the New York State School Music Association (NYSSMA) and the National Association for Music Education (NAFME). Our organization represents the county's public and private school music educators, collegiate faculty, performing musicians, retired teachers, and area music professionals.

Each year we are responsible for putting on unique educational events for over 1,500 area student musicians in grades 5-12. These include our Solo Festival, Scholarship Competition, and our ten All-County Honor Ensembles. All of our concerts are open to the public. Please check our online calendar above for more details.

Chautauqua County has a great deal to be proud of when looking at its musical accomplishments. From our outstanding collegiate musical institutions at SUNY Fredonia and Jamestown Community College, to the Chautauqua Institution, to its countless community music organizations. We have multiple award winning public school district music programs, two NAMM Nationally Ranked Best Communities for Music Education, and the world's first Grammy Music Educator Award Winner (Kent Knappenberger).

I am proud to serve as this organization's President. It is rare to find such a dedicated and talented group of individuals as you will see in our members. The heights they help the student musicians of this county reach are a testament to this area's potential and the strength of our communities. I hope to see you joining with us to applaud their efforts at an upcoming concert!
