Welcome to Chautauqua County! |
| MESSAGE FROM THE PRESIDENT... JENNIFER DAVIS |
| On behalf of the Chautauqua County Music Teachers Association, representing over 75 music educators from 18 school districts, area parochial schools, and representatives from the School of Music at SUNY College at Fredonia, as well as over 1500 students who participate in our music festivals, I want to welcome you to our Web Page. |
| The purpose of the Chautauqua County Music Teachers Association, since its inception in 1949, has been to advance and strengthen the cause of music education in Chautauqua County. CCMTA provides leadership in the professional growth of teachers, and we are proud of the accomplishments of our teachers and our students. Our members are well represented and active in professional organizations such as NYSSMA, ACDA, and MENC, and we are very proud of the many students who are chosen to represent our county at All State and Area All State Festivals, and ultimately grow to include music in their daily adult lives. |
| CCMTA provides and hosts two All County Music Festivals each year featuring 10 performing ensembles, including choruses, bands, orchestra, vocal jazz, jazz ensemble and percussion ensemble at the Elementary, Junior and Senior High levels. We are fortunate to be able to expose our students to the beauty of the Reg Lenna Civic Center in Jamestown, and the Chautauqua Institute where these festivals are held. We sponsor a CCMTA solo festival in the Spring as well as a Youth Series event held under the auspices of the Arts in Education program. We are proud to be able to offer multiple scholarships to deserving students who wish to study with private teachers, at summer camp, or who plan to major in music at the college level. |
| As President of our County Association, I am proud to work with such a dedicated group of educators who work extremely hard to provide the many and varied opportunities for musical growth to all of our students. I hope you will find our Web Page to be helpful, informative, and resourceful. |
